She's Ready For Red..

My mum has only ever been two hair colours in her life, blonde and black. 

Blonde is beautiful, as we are naturally fair. She has olive skin and striking reptile green eyes so of course blonde is going to be dreamy on her but lately she has started to lose the glow that blonde hair usually gives her.

We knew that she needed to change it up a bit and that if she couldn't be blonde, she definitely couldn't go back to black.. Mainly because when she has black hair, it looks like she was acting in one of those scenes where the person is standing under a construction site and an oil drum spills over them.. Either that or I could just hand her a straw broom and listen to her cackle as she flies away on it. 

By now you should have gotten the point that black hair on my mum is obviously not a good thing.

What else is there though? The whole two tone thing is not an option and brown looks dull on most people, so that's out.. And then **lightbulb** 

RED

Red is a terrifying word when your a blonde. It's a horribly scary word indeed. 

You spend your life trying to eliminate any red and orange so to even suggest it, should be considered madness.. Unless you've been watching Body Of Proof, Unforgettable, Prime Suspect, True Blood, Pretty Woman, Thomas Crown Affair, Assassins, Grumpy Old Men or The Wedding Date (like we have).. 

What do those movies and tv shows have in common, you ask? 

All the main actresses are REDHEADS and they look AMAZING!

Poppy Montgomery, Debra Messing, Julianne Moore, Julia Roberts, Ann Margaret..  

Just to name a few.. All drop dead gorgeous redheads.. 

So today we went out in search of the perfect red for my mum to try. 

Of course with such a dramatic change you can't just slap it on your hair and hope for the best, so I did test strands on some of my microbead extensions and out of all four colours, none of them were the right shade. It's hard because we don't want a colour too orange and we don't want something too dark or too bright.. Finding that perfect auburn red is going to be harder than we thought. 

We wanted to make sure the colours really weren't the right match so we did two colour strips in mums hair. They were NOT a success.. 

The top photo was our most likely contender as her base colour - that we nicknamed Dead Duck because it was such a flat and boring colour.

The second photo was the one we were scared would be too 'cartoonish'.. And we were right. 

It's a bonus that the second colour is actually the perfect colour for my girlfriend Monicah. She spends a small fortune getting me to dye her hair with fudge every three weeks so this should help her purse quite a bit!

As for my mums hair? I'll update you when we find her perfect shade :)

Lipcote Swatch.

My mum recently bought me this product, it's called 'Lipcote'. 

I haven't used this properly yet but it looks promising. All you do is apply your lipliner, lipstick then cover it in this clear liquid. When it dries, your lipstick is practically permanent.

 I can't yet rate this product despite how great it looks and lasted on my wrist.

It seems promising from my experience but I don't know if it dries out your lips, if the lipstick begins to flake or even how it reacts to your saliva or when your eating and drinking.

I will test it out properly this week and let you know how it goes.

School's Out, For EVER!

I woke up this morning to the sound of my mums voice claiming to be me to whoever was at our front door. As soon as she said "Yep, I'm Bliss." I knew she was signing for the Sportsgirl parcel we ordered only two days ago!

I was sleeping on the couch at the time because at 3.30am this morning I still couldn't sleep. I dragged my doona, pillow and self to the lounge-room and played my Home Alone dvd. Instead of falling asleep during the movie like I had intended, I watched the whole thing and dozed off ten minutes after the movie finished.

The courier delivered the package so early this morning that instead of springing to life ready to rip open the parcel like I normally do.. I mumbled "That was quick." (referring to the fact we placed our order two days ago) and fell asleep mid sentence.

When I woke up properly, my mum and I organized ten lots of items that I have to vlog in the next day or two.. and then we went shopping. We got some great items from the MNG sale as it's only got four days to go and then we went into Cotton On - which was a mad house because they were having a sale. While we were looking around Cotton On, my mum and I decided to go to a local outlet centre so I put down the $5 top I was holding (as the line for registers was at least twelve people long) and headed for the car.

After a quick ten minute drive we were at the outlet centre, which is like a ghost town. I don't know how any of those businesses survive when we were the only customers in the entire shopping centre - literally!! I went a bit nuts at Guess because they were selling their last season summer clothes and then I went a bit more nuts at the Cotton On outlet. I even got my girlfriend Candy a pair of sandals in the style she loves for only $2.

When I got home, my boyfriend came to see me for an hour and we planned the holiday we are taking for my birthday in August. I can't wait!

Now that I've written this post I will be able to sit down with my bowl of pasta, can of Coke and eleven episodes of Boardwalk Empire. I'm keen for a marathon, but perhaps I'll aim to watch two or three tonight and see how I go.

I Want XXL Turbo Colossal Big Falsie Lashes.. So I Bought All Of Those Mascaras.

Yesterday my mum and I went shopping and when we were in Coles I noticed they were having a sale on makeup. Naturally I went to check it out and all their Maybelline mascara's were between twelve and fourteen dollars each. It still sounds expensive but there was an average saving of $6 on each of these mascaras so I bought six or so..

I have only ever tried the Colossal so this will be an interesting few days for me as I am very picky about my lashes.

Lastnight I used the Volum Express Turbo and wasn't very impressed but I'm willing to give it another go. I will be doing a review on each of these with a rating and before/after pics over the next few days so be on the look out!

Just Add Some Bleach..

While I'm on the subject of bleaching hair, I may as well add the photos I took of bleaching my mums hair.

It was a very similar process to my hair but with different products.. And the fact that she has grey regrowth - not black.

Christmas Shopping

Recently I've been shopping all day and then exercising all night. 

When I'm not shopping or exercising, I'm talking on the phone to my dream guy. 

I know I've neglected you (and my vlog) so I hope this post makes up for my absence.

I was in Coles the other day and I seen a range of Edward Beale hairdressing hairdye's so I decided to try one. I've been really unhappy with the colour of my blonde lately so I bought the shade 'Platinum Blonde'. 

One pack was only enough to barely cover all of my regrowth and give me some highlights on my top layer.

This was the colour the next day (Thursday). 

Since then I have re-bleached all of my hair so it's completely different again.

I'm wearing a new harem style jumpsuit from Ice

A new skull and chain bag from Sportsgirl

A new pair of sandals in a metallic platinum colour

A new pair of daisy earrings from Forever New

And my mum is wearing her new pair of shoes

On our trip to Myer I bought four Chi Chi bronzers and a Sugar Baby tanning lotion that was on sale.

I love Sugar Baby products so when I seen this tanning lotion for only $5, I had to get it.

All of the Chi Chi bronzers were protected in this (after you took them out of the box)

It's very Chanel-ish of them.
