Ride Em Cowgirl

My grandmothers funky dress sense.Cowgirl boots, lace tights, gypsy skirt and a snakeskin bag.

Take Me To Barbados!

After a great dinner out with my family at the Casablanca restaurant we stopped into Kmart to get some winter pjs. As a makeup addict my feet automatically take me to the cosmetics section where I was lucky enough to find these bad boys. Ladies I introduce you to the Face Of Australia Barbados nail polish set which I got for $1.75 each reduced from $4.95! I only missed out on one shade (that I know of) but after painting a quick and dodgey coat on my nails I have to say that I love each and every shade, which is a rare occurrence for me. Ill paint my nails properly to show you swatches tomorrow. Just had to share my bargain find with you :)

Jelly Cakes

My grandmother prepared these for us on our visit today. Vanilla cupcakes with whipped cream, blue jelly and Cadbury Flake crushed over the top. Yummy!!

Crest Chest

I think my brother would absolutely love this! I seen it at a variety store while shopping in Kyabram with my mum and grandmother. It's quite fantastic and he needa a side table and chest of drawers desperately. Hrmm, on the list it goes..

Vintage Pink

I love staying at my grandparents house. Everything about their house feels warm and positive. I always sleep in the 'pink room'. Can you tell from the photo why we call it that?

The photo of my great grandmother is perfect amongst the oya lace and vintage vanity bottles.

Merry Christmas!!

It's a tad late but here are my photos from Christmas day..

"Well-Behaved Women Seldom Make History.."

After receiving a comment from a new subscriber, I went over to her blog and was reminded of the famous quote "Well-behaved women seldom make history."

After spending a few minutes racking my brain trying to remember who actually said that line, I gave my old friend Google a holler and found THIS ARTICLE.

I think that article is one of the most true, honest, fantastic, real and amazing things I have read in years.

I walked away from it completely exuberant at the thought that today was the day I restarted the rest of my life in a new frame of mind. I have never been one to hold my tongue, let someone walk over me, judge me or let them make me feel less than I am but in saying that, I am human and I do have emotions that get hurt just as easily as the next person. Therefore, I was always chained to my fear of other opinions in one way or another..

After reading that article and thinking about Olympia's shamelessness, I no longer hold guilt for anything I have done in my past that I would secretly have been a tad ashamed, embarrassed or paranoid would come back to haunt me.

The reality of my past is that I grew up in the 00's.. Which means that I took revealing (and sometimes quite raw) photos of myself and sent them to my boyfriends at the time, or guys I was just hooking up with. I have had my fair share of sexual encounters that were impulsive and could be seen as careless. I've said my fair share of filthy, vulgar, naughty and suggestive things. I've watched porn, had and have kinky desires and you know what? So has nearly every woman my age that I know or have ever met.

I'm not in any way telling you to go out and be a sexual deviant. I'm just saying that there is no reason for anyone to feel ashamed, embarrassed or guilty of the decisions they have made in the moment.

..

Take a ride back in time with me for a moment to the 1960s when my grandmother (who was a "good girl" to her core) was pregnant to her "bad boy" Italian boyfriend, whom she was (at the time) forbidden to be with because he didn't fit the "good" mould that her parents had originally pegged out.

Skip forward to the 1980s when my mum, who was also a "good girl", got pregnant from her "bad boy" boyfriend and ended up a teenage single mother in a small (mostly) Italian community.

Skip forward to more recent times. In 2005 I was not the typical "good girl" yet I found myself pregnant to my "bad boy" boyfriend. I would have followed in my mothers and grandmothers footsteps if fate hadn't stepped in and caused a miscarriage at 17 weeks.

What I really want to make clear to you is that it doesn't matter what anyone outside of YOUR circle thinks, says or even screams at you. It is your life, you are the one who has to live it - not them.

So please, I beg of you - live your own life in the way that you wish to live, otherwise you're not living at all.

She's Ready For Red..

My mum has only ever been two hair colours in her life, blonde and black.

Blonde is beautiful, as we are naturally fair. She has olive skin and striking reptile green eyes so of course blonde is going to be dreamy on her but lately she has started to lose the glow that blonde hair usually gives her.

We knew that she needed to change it up a bit and that if she couldn't be blonde, she definitely couldn't go back to black.. Mainly because when she has black hair, it looks like she was acting in one of those scenes where the person is standing under a construction site and an oil drum spills over them.. Either that or I could just hand her a straw broom and listen to her cackle as she flies away on it.

By now you should have gotten the point that black hair on my mum is obviously not a good thing.

What else is there though? The whole two tone thing is not an option and brown looks dull on most people, so that's out.. And then **lightbulb**

RED

Red is a terrifying word when your a blonde. It's a horribly scary word indeed.
You spend your life trying to eliminate any red and orange so to even suggest it, should be considered madness.. Unless you've been watching Body Of Proof, Unforgettable, Prime Suspect, True Blood, Pretty Woman, Thomas Crown Affair, Assassins, Grumpy Old Men or The Wedding Date (like we have)..

What do those movies and tv shows have in common, you ask?

All the main actresses are REDHEADS and they look AMAZING!

Poppy Montgomery, Debra Messing, Julianne Moore, Julia Roberts, Ann Margaret..
Just to name a few.. All drop dead gorgeous redheads..

So today we went out in search of the perfect red for my mum to try.

Of course with such a dramatic change you can't just slap it on your hair and hope for the best, so I did test strands on some of my microbead extensions and out of all four colours, none of them were the right shade. It's hard because we don't want a colour too orange and we don't want something too dark or too bright.. Finding that perfect auburn red is going to be harder than we thought.

We wanted to make sure the colours really weren't the right match so we did two colour strips in mums hair. They were NOT a success..

The top photo was our most likely contender as her base colour - that we nicknamed Dead Duck because it was such a flat and boring colour.

The second photo was the one we were scared would be too 'cartoonish'.. And we were right.

It's a bonus that the second colour is actually the perfect colour for my girlfriend Monicah. She spends a small fortune getting me to dye her hair with fudge every three weeks so this should help her purse quite a bit!

As for my mums hair? I'll update you when we find her perfect shade :)

I'm PhotoReady - If You're Not Wearing White!

The other day my brother hugged me (this in itself is unexpected) but what was even more disturbing and unexpected is the fact that when the horrid event was over, the HAM in Champion was covered in a massive foundation swipe. From this I have taken the knowledge that Revlon Photo Ready may be ready for photos, but it isn't ready for clothes. This photo doesn't show the extent of transfer but you can definitely see the discolouration above "Champion".

Up, Down, Up, Down.

For those of you who don't get the movie reference in my title, I'm referring to Daniel Son in The Karate Kid when he had to paint the fence. That is one of the jokes my mum and I had yesterday when we painted our front fence. The other joke was us singing "A Woman's Touch" from the classic movie Calamity Jane. The highlight of our day was when my brother bought us a lunch platter and sang (in character) "And what does Mr Sunshine say to you? Howdy do!"
I guess we played that Dorris Day movie one too many times growing up.. Haha. We spent all day doing the first coat, only to run out of paint on the home stretch.

Our Moroccon Iftar.

I was at my cousin Moe's house a few nights ago for iftar. Iftar is the meal you have to break your fast during Ramadan. We had a mix of ethnic food and sat down to eat it on the floor. You haven't lived until you've eaten from the floor..

.. Wait, that sounded really wrong. Haha, you know what I mean.

The Top Five Reasons Why You Shouldn't:

Ask your older brother for the time while he is writing something..

1 - He will draw on you.
2 - He will chase you out of his room threatening to draw on you.
3 - He will ignore you.
4 - He will tell you to come back later.
5 - He will draw a penis watch on your wrist demonstrating that you should come back at a later time.

Of course, I got option five.

Up the right way, is actually upside down.

Morale of this story - look at the clock yourself.

Hahahahaha.

How My Family Spend A Rainy Saturday

It may be raining today but Luna Park was still up n running n the jam doughnuts still tasted good, if not better!

My Last Night With Potter.

Lastnight my mum, brother and I went to watch the last Harry Potter movie.
I blubbered at certain parts - which was expected, thus the waterproof mascara.

I'm actually kinda sad it's over. We were so wrapped up in the movie that none of us even touched our 'sneaky snacks'! (Sneaky snacks being the food and drink you buy from the Supermarket before you go to the cinema so you aren't stuck having to pay $6 for a small bottle of Coke)

If you haven't seen the whole series of Harry Potter movies, YOU MUST watch them..
And from start to finish. It's only eight movies! Haha.

I just HAVE to show some Alan Rickman "Professor Snape" posters.
MMMMM... Yum.

Thank God I'm A Country Girl

Because every time I seem to go back, the weather is beautiful!

This was taken on Wednesday when I went to my great grandmothers 91st bday.

It's My Grandmothers Birthday!

Buon Compleanno!
Happy Birthday!
Dogum Gunun Kutlu Olsun!

Lay-Me-Out.

Now that I finally have a blog layout that I am satisfied with (totally standard, I know) I am going to get my brother to create me a banner.. Let's hope he gets around to doing it!

I Think I'm Addicted To Shopping.

The MNG sale just stole my wage, my mums wage and half my brothers wage. But oh so worth it.

Photos coming soon.
Vlog coming soon.

A Goose!

More like a swan. Mum and I just bought these for my grandmother because she has a thing for swans. Hope you like them nan!

The Green, Green Grass Of Home.

My grandparents house has always felt like home to me.

My mum, brother and I always move around so the one place that has always seemed constant is my grandparents house.. and it's always so cheerful looking.

This photo was taken at the start of winter and it looks just as beautiful in winter as it does at any other time of the year. It's not very often that we see lawn and trees as green as this because Australia is in a drought and on water restrictions.

Luckily for us, my grandparents can pump bore water from the underneath the ground of their property.

This water isn't always a great option though. You can only use it every now and then for the simple reason that if it's too salty it will burn the top of the grass. You also need to make sure that you water the garden and yard when it's not in direct sunlight.

What my grandfather also discovered is that you can shandy it. By "shandy", he means you can mix town water with the bore water to dilute the salt content.

I also love this photo because my car is in the driveway. Well, it's my grandparents car now.

OH HOW I MISS MY BMW :(
