She Stole His Last Name.

Ten years ago I met a guy through my current boyfriend. He was funny and undeniably handsome and charismatic. Six years later I run into him again and meet his girlfriend. We all became close and spent lots of time together. During my pregnancy I moved away to be closer to my grandparents and unfortunately missed their engagement. Two years later I was one of the first to arrive at their wedding reception. He is Iraqi so I knew the wedding would be huge which meant a month of stress over which sequin gown to wear. Fast forward to the day before the wedding and I scrapped my original idea and bought a completely different dress to my original plan. It was a Chelsea grey bandage dress painted with silver metallic paint. It was GORGEOUS. I was shopping in Target and found a pair of Taupe heels with grey gemstones on the heels on sale for $20 and had previously purchased a grey clutch from Target on sale for $20 also (now reduced to $7 - bummer).

I currently have pastel pink hair so I decided to go vampy rather than "glamorous" with my makeup. I concentrated on a grey, dark purple and silver smokey eye and a dark purple lip.

My hair was natural waves thanks to the VS Sassoon Curl Secret wand. I'll be doing a review on this asap because it's a miracle worker!

I took my best friend Amel as my date because I've only been with my boyfriend Ramos for four months and felt strange taking him as he hasn't spent any real time with the bride and groom.

I had a great night until ZsaZsas dad approached me outside the wedding because he was at an engagement party in the next room! Anyway, here's my photos from the night.

I can't wait to get the official wedding photos and do an updated post to show you everything in better quality haha.

Roses Are Red, Violets Should Be Too.

Red - The colour of rage, passion, danger, lust, romance and (in my opinion) confidence. These are some of our strongest emotions/feelings.

I've always been a red person. I went through a phase where I thought it would be the best idea to have a signature look. One thing that sticks out in peoples minds when they hear your name. So I came up with what I thought was a brilliant idea. I wanted my fashion signature to be that I always wore red.. and I tried it too! After about three days it felt like I had worn the same thing every day for a million years.

In those 3 days of looking confident, passionate, dangerous, sinful and wild, I learned that you cant limit yourself. You really are a different person from each day to the next and everything you wear (clothing, make up, shoes, accessories, hair, jewelry and facial expressions) really do express who we are. I learned this lesson at 13.

Nine years later and three major events in my life. What colour did I wear to each of them? There was no doubt in my mind or my mums mind what colour it would be. There was no other colour in the world that would express me like red does. Where I'm from, (a generation or two ago) there used to be a three letter word for having an hourglass figure and long black hair. Red.
Yet my generation seemed to shy away from it. I had to break tradition. I had to boldly go where no local 16 year old had gone in at least 15 years. I showed up to my year 10 formal in a floor length handmade red silk gown and despite the fact it was a size too big because I lost a lot of weight leading upto my formal, I was still the boldest and bravest in the room. All the other girls at my formal were in black, white, baby blue, lemon and pink etc.

In my opinion, the first formal occasion you should wear a white gown to is your wedding.
Black? You have the rest of your life to wear it.
As for lemon, blue and green? Why not call ahead and ask what shade of pastel the venue is painted and decorated so you can match it to a T.

GIVE ME COLOUR. Give me gold, tangerine, lime, fuchsia, turquoise, purple and silver. Give me beads, sequins, backless, wrap arounds, trains, couture, long sleeve, short sleeve, silk, tops & maxi skirts, velvet, frills, vintage, lace or salsa style..

GIVE ME SOMETHING OTHER THAN PLAIN-JANE PASTEL SPAGHETTI-STRAP FLOOR-LENGTH SATIN DRESSES.

If your critisizing the fact that the three main ocassions in my life (being my formal, 18th and 21st) that I wore red. I really don't care. I know there are a million colours out there. There are at least 100 different colours in my wardrobe alone and I have the rest of my life to wear the other 999,999 colours in the world and I will.. But I know that at the end of the day, red provokes something in people, something in me. When your looking through my eyes, red is the only colour that doesn't blend in when your in a crowd.. So stand out, stand up and be RED.

Peace.

Ass For Days, Thighs For Weeks

'I have nothing to wear'
seems to be my most used phrase this time of the year because it's not cold and it's not hot. I have thousands of items of clothing but winter is where I'm stuck due to the fact that I don't really get cold. My temperatures are boiling, hot, fine and freezing so much that my toes and nose are numb.

Today was one of those 'nothing to wear days'. I woke up thinking 'Yay, rain' only to realize that it wasn't rain running down my bedroom window, it was mist.

Mist; Every womans worst nightmare.
Not only is mist the most impossible weather to dress for but divide one rain d
rop into 50 mist droplets and my hair goes from

to ..

in .3 seconds.

I had to go to the shopping center near my house with mum this afternoon to do a supermarket run and as you know, my car is just a pretty accessory for my driveway at the moment. We ended up having to walk up to the bus stop in mist. Not even the bright red umbrella my mum bought with us stopped my hair from fluffing up.

I couldn't decide what to wear so I sat in my room looking at my open wardrobe for a good 15 minutes. I could have worn a long sleeve top or jumper with my leggings but I despise wearing leggings on their own. I put them on and was comfy and anything but then I looked in the mirror. There is no looking good with leggings. If your chubby/curvy you look like a baby whale, if your thin you look like Olive Oil from Popeye. Not to mention that no matter how flawless your body is, girls are either sporting a front wedgie, a back wedgie, a baggy crotch or some major wobble & cellulite issues.

I am not a gym junkie so I will admit I have a bit of cellulite on the back of my thighs and my brother used to nickname me 'Thunder-thighs' when I was younger so that has resulted in a tiny complex I have, even when I'm at my healthiest weight. I know I will never have legs like the super models of the world so I prefer to cover them up. Besides, I'm 5'3 - If I had legs like a supermodel my thighs would be in my armpits! Then where would I put my glorious Italian chest & rump haha.

After I refused to wear the leggings, I was only left with one option - trackies. I hate wearing trackies in public because I feel like I'm 15 years old and hanging out at the mall after school. To make things worse, I'm a rip & tearer. If there is a tiny hole, I have to make it a big hole. If there is a thread hanging down, I must pull it. The only pair of trackies I have without a big hole or rip in them are a pair of bright tomato red by Everlast. What the hell goes with red trackies?!??!?! I already know I have no long sleeve tops/jumpers that are suitable so I ended up wearing a white Mossimo tshirt with red print on the front and some Havaianas. (That reminds me I must go shopping for some winter shoes.) I took a navy blue YSL knit jumper with me just in case the cold hit me on the walk home, but thankfully I didn't need it. If I didn't have an extra 10kg on me at the moment, I would break open the Ikea box of Bettina Liano, Gasp, Gripp, Bardot and Guess jeans I have. Personally, when I'm a size 14 (which I am at the moment) jeans are a no go. My bum is the size of a planet (in a good way) so jeans just feel wrong in that plumber/stripper kind of way - as you can see.

Oh, that photo brings me to my next entry. Caring for long hair. Treatments and methods that work! You can see in that photo how damaged my ends were - so coarse and dry. Now that I've done some experimenting with treatments, they are smoother than the consistency of Milo yoghurt - mmmmm.

Time to go. Have to go and check on the lasagna and chocolate pudding I'm cooking.

Peace.
